  Forrest had suffered with rheumatic fever after getting a sore throat while out trapping animals in winter during his teen years. He died tragically and unexpectedly attempting to hitch a ride with a friend driving a truck, the truck was rolling, Forrest missed the door handle, fell under the whells and was crushed to death. He was a young man in his 20's.
