  Note by Carol Smart Mero - Ellen was only eight years old when her morther died and was raised by her stepmother Azubah Moore Hubbard must have been a very good stepmother, as both Ellen and her sister Mercy name daughters for her. Ellen is named in her father's will as Eleanor, wife of Nathan Davis. She and her husband were first cousins on one side and second cousins once removed on the other.
