  Note from Elinor Leland Zetina: Thomas was a sergeant in the Britich army and a widower with two children, a son and a daughter, when he came to Canada. She was stationed at Saint John when he met Ann. Lhomas Leland was a Presbyterian and his name is one of the committee of the first and only Presbyterian church at Mascarene known for many years as "The Kirk" before it fell into decay. It had never been completely finished as it was on McKenzie property and it is said the George McKenzie [don/t know if related to Ann or not] wouldn't give a deed to the property so the elders gave up and would not finish the building, thus it fell into decay. I believe the first son was left with people in Ireland, and he came to Canada with his daughter Sarah.
